Sukup Manufacturing Wins InnovationLEADER Award Sponsored by Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont

Des Moines, Iowa, May 29, 2018 —

Sukup Manufacturing Co., based in Sheffield, Iowa, was awarded the 2018 innovationLEADER Award. The award is designed by the Des Moines Business Record, and sponsored by Corteva Agriscience, to recognize an Iowa business or organization for its culture of innovation and revolutionary ideas. Steve Sukup, chief financial officer, Sukup Manufacturing, accepted the award on Thursday, May 24, 2018, as part of the innovationIOWA awards banquet held at the Carver Center on the Johnston, Iowa campus of Corteva Agriscience.

“Congratulations to Sukup and its nearly 55 years of innovations,” said Dan Cosgrove, Corteva Agriscience global leader, corporate development and licensing. “At Corteva Agriscience, innovation is at our core and we couldn’t be more pleased to be part of recognizing Sukup Manufacturing for its commitment to cultivating the innovative spirit for the benefit of agriculture and society.”

In 2010, as a direct response to the earthquake in Haiti, Sukup designed and developed a metal structure resistant to termites and moisture, and virtually earthquake-proof. The structure, known as the Safe T Home, can sleep 10 and house many more during times of emergency.

Sukup’s innovative creation was further demonstrated when Hurricane Matthew caused massive destruction on the island in 2016. However, all 200 Safe T Homes in use survived the 145-mile-per-hour winds with minimal damage. The homes are currently in use in Peru and several African nations, making a difference throughout the world.

This is the first year Corteva Agriscience has sponsored the award, which has been sponsored by DuPont Pioneer for the past three years.
